Buat Apa Belajar Matematika?


Apa sih yang ada difikiran kamu ketika mendengar kata matematika? “Haduh ribet, sulit, menghitung, angka-angka, dan pokoknya membuat pusing kepala deh” pasti itu yang terlintas seketika. Pelajaran ini umumnya ditakuti dan dihindari oleh sebagian siswa bahkan muncul istilah math anxiety (kecemasan matematika) di dunia keilmuan matematika terkait dengan tingkah laku siswa yang berhubungan dengan ketakutan dan kecemasan yang dialami siswa saat pembelajaran matematika. Banyak alasan mengapa munculnya sugesti buruk tentang pelajaran matematika, alasan ini berupa pelajaran terlalu abstrak untuk dipelajari, tidak asik dipelajari, guru yang kejam, guru yang kaku, dan lain sebagainya.

Ada Apa dengan Guru Matematika?


Kenapa guru Matematika? Kenapa tidak guru Biologi, IPS atau Seni? pertanyaan itu mungkin terlintas ketika pertama membuka laman ini. Bukan karena penulis adalah guru matematika atau guru matematika adalah guru favorit penulis, namun karena fenomena yang terjadi di sekolah hingga masyarakat yang terkait guru matematika yang fenomenal dan umunya ditakuti siswa.

            Guru matematika adalah guru yang dianggap mengerikan yang selalu ditakuti ketika disekolah. Matematika  pun dianggap pelajaran yang  identik dengan angka dan rumus ini sukses membuat banyak orang pusing dan sulit mengerti mengerti penjelasan dari guru. Citra inilah yang dulunya melekat dan menjadi budaya ditengah masyarakat. sebagian masyarakat awam pun menganggap siswa baru dikatakan cerdas jika mendapat nilai memuaskan pada pelajaran matematika. Hal ini umumnya membuat siswa menjadi tertekan dan cemas dalam pelajaran matematika. Mirisnya, tekanan  tersebut membuat mainset pada siswa hingga ia dewasa pun masih beranggapan bahwwa matematika itu sulit dan guru yang paling ia benci adalah guru matematika.
            Pada kenyataannya pelajaran matematika tidak sesulit yang dibayangkan. Pelajaran matematika ada disekitar kita. Dalam segala aspek kehidupan terdapat angka yang menjadi unsur penting dalam pelajaran matematika. Bahkan, dalam pelajaran lain pun terdapat matematika seperti dalam pelajaran Ipa, Ips, Agama, Olahraga, dan llain sebagainya. Sebagai contoh dalam pelajaran Ips kita menerapkan pelajaran matematika untuk menghitung jumlah populasi  penduduk, kemudian dalam pelajaran Olahraga kita menghitung luas lapangan sepak bola juga merupakan penerapan dari pembelajaran matematika. Guru matematika pun terus berkembang dan berinovasi menjadi guru yang menyenangkan, inovatif,  profesional dan flaksibel mengikuti perkembangan zaman.
            Inovasi yang dilakukan oleh guru meliputi cara mengajar, metode-metode, strategi , pendekatan dan model  mengajar yang bervariasi, media pembelajaran elektronik maupun non elektronik hingga menciptakan game atau permainan demi membuat pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan minat siswa dalam pelajaran matematika hingga siswa matematika dapat menjadi mata pelajaran yang disukai oleh siswanya. Sebagi contoh seorang guru membuat alat peraga hitung berbentuk brangkas untuk mempermudah siswanya dalam memahami konsep berhitung. Inovasi lainnya dibagun dan ditempah sedini mungkin pada calon-calon guru agar kelak menjadi guru yang menyenangkan, inovatif, profesional dan flaksibel mengikuti perkembangan zaman. Hal-hal tersebut dibagun dan ditempah dengan pelatihan-pelatihan mengajar, pelatihan pembuatan alat peraga berbentuk fisik maupun media pembelajaran berbasis komputer. Seperti halnya di Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, mahasiswa membuat berbagai macam alat peraga dan mempuublikasikannya melalui pameran. Dengan begitu banyaknya inovasi dalam pelajaran matematika semoga pelajaran dan guru matematika tidak menjadi ketakutan siswwa dan makin banyak siswa yang menyukai pelajaran matematika.
            Untuk membantu para guru dalam berinovasi penulis menyajikan menu khusus untuk guru yang berisi tentang media pembelajaran, rancangan perencanaan pembelajaran, materi-materi, modul dan lain-lain. Ini di peruntukan untuk guru SD, SMP, dan SMA.
